Context publication... crit

Had a crit on my context book on Thursday with Lorenzo, it was really useful and has made me more confident with the direction I am heading with it. I showed him a printed mock-up of the book and also the online mock-up on my blog. The advice given was to move the introductory paragraph before the contents page as this will set the seen for the reader. Also the point size seemed a little big so I am going to try 11 point with the same leading as used with the 12 point I think it was 14.6 ... anyway I will check this and alter it. Also it was suggested that more comments about the sctual images would be useful, I currently have the design agency by all the images but info about the brief, such as audience where it was used etc. These should be placed as 7pt captions with numbers by the images so the copy doesn't get too cramped near the images, the grid I am using for the book already allows space for these captions so it won't take too long to go through and add them.

I need to make sure I check all hyphens for any I have missed and widows etc, and keep consistency through the book, i.e I have used italics on some quotes and not others! ergh! stupid me!!!! haha.

All in all finally making progress :)

Showing Lorenzo the changes on wednesday andy then hopefully I can send to print asap.

branding

Found another great website based on branding. I picked out some brand guideline sites that would be most useful to me from social, health and education areas.

This website will come in handy for my design context too as I am having a chapter based on identity guidelines.

It is also going to come to some use when thinking about designing a logo for the education brief I am working on - Information access.

Logopond

I am currently starting a brief that requires me to design a logo for an educational company. As I am really interested in type based design and layout I thought I would look round for some existing typographic logos, came across this good website: http://logopond.com/
