Kidney Annual - Design by Pidgeon

Main likes about this piece are the simple Duo tone aspects to the design, they bring a limited colour document into something a bit more exciting to look at. I don't really like the headers in the red boxes I think they are too close to the top of the box and I would personally prefer them to be ranged left to the edge of the box.

Loving the cover with the cut out and folding flap gives the whole publication less of a throw away feel.

logo designs.

Always good to come across logos I think have been well designed, especially typographic ones.

Welcome to the green issue...

Ted Baker - Typographic illustration - inspiration.

I wanted to try out some more decorative type for the Ted Baker brief and use limited amount of imagery, just a few monotone vectors was the idea, so I set out to find some current examples of what I liked and what I was trying to get across to Gemma who I am collaborating with on this brief. Finding the examples of what the sort of idea I was trying to aim for really helped us bring our heads together and realise what each of us wanted to achieve out of the brief. It also lended to Gemma's strengths as her main interest is illustrative type so bonus!!

Reilly Stroope

Some nice typographic illustration here, until now I never really liked the whole illustration as type but if you look carefully enough there are some good pieces out there, Like Reilly Stroope's work.

What goes around...

What goes around campaign - Although the designs rely mainly on image to communicate the message, and I am interested mainly in typographic pieces, this design concept was too good to not comment on. The concept would not have been as strong without the imagery so it just goes to show me that even though I am interested in working with type, if image fits too well to a brief don't ignore it use it!!

Ted Baker - current window display in meadowhall - PLANarama

Took this photo as I was passing the Ted Baker store in meadowhall at the weekend, current display is Spring Chicken. Great movable 3D pieces with a graphic wallpaper back drop. Crap photo quality but great research for Ted Baker competition brief to see the potential of what can be achieved. Wish I had to the money to create massive mechanical chickens :P hehe
